South Bristol Transfer Station and Dump
(207) 677-2116
Directions: Take 32 South (toward New Harbor); right on Foster Road (before New Harbor); take Foster Road to the end, and at stop sign, turn right onto Rt. 30 north. Dump is a mile or so on the right, opposite Hanley Construction sign on the left.
Not always open; remember to check hours of operation (posted on refrigerator door) before making the trip. (In the past, the station has been closed Wed and Fri) Remember to bring the Transfer Station permit (for free residential trash dumping).
Recycling first (workers are very helpful) & drive-through building for residential trash.
Recycled Materials (rinsed clean, cardboard flattened): glass, paper, plastic [#1, #2, #7], aluminum, tin, cardboard. (Will accept soda cans and juice bottles – no money back – but these are $$-back recyclables in Maine; redeem at King Ro, Hannafords (vending machine), or State Redemption Center (just beyond Louis Doe Hardware in New Castle) for 5 cents apiece. Wine bottles 15 cents.)
Bulk trash (construction material, appliances, furniture, etc.) is in a separate location down a road to the right. Cost according to weight (fairly reasonable).
