Oil Furnace cleaned every fall; will reassess as summer-only usage may mean we only need it cleaned every 3-4 years.
10/14/10 100 gal delivered at our request. ($279)
7/1/10 Oil ran out. Called for next day delivery of 100 gal ($275) + $25 charge to start-up system.
7/19/09 100 gallons delivered. ($249.00 - quickpay discount of $10 = $239)
4/16/09 After Colby & Gale had issues with turning on the power due to septic noise; decided that Colby & Gale will only be called on for oil delivery and every 3 years for a system cleaning. (2010)
11/12/08 Colby & Gale suggested a plumber close down our system since we have water heat throughout the house. It would be cheaper to have the plumber just shutdown the furnace as well.
Call in spring to have to system started up and checked.
10/10/08 150 gallons of oil delivered.
4/3/08 Called to schedule spring start-up on 5/5/08. Also scheduled 100 gallon delivery of oil. Water should always be started up before heat start-up.
11/11/2007 Heat shut-off for the winter. The consensus is that it's not economical to heat the house through the winter until the house has more insulation and better heat distribution to the part of the house without a foundation.
10/19/2007 Replaced valves, nipples, boiler guage,
expansion tank + 10 gal anti-freeze $537.58
9/28/2007 Colby & Gale account put in Deb Macklin's name.
Service call requested, wired service switch $109.50
9/25/2007 Start of system maintainence. Bringing the system up
to Maine's current code. $300ish
9/17/2007 Emergency call. Service guy reset the system and
installed a monitor light in window. $122.95
8/6/08 returned monitor light -$62.65
7/29/1997 Filter system cleaned
Should be cleaned every 3 yrs (ditto above comment, should be able to scale back)

Chimney should be checked regularly.
Wood stove should be checked to verify that flu is open before using and closed when not in use. After using the fireplace, do not close the flu until the pipe is cold.
